Welcome to Hyperbolic Tangent
a tangent sprung off hyperbole, a yarn strung back to me, a math no more than Matthew, and a site about myself. My name is Matthew Adie, and these the ramblings of I. The personal is my pretense and this site my representation. Here you will find my Race Reports, my Training Log, my musings (often of Montreal), and my writings (both creative and not). You will also find a calendar of events I will likely attend, my CV, a collection photos, videos, and summary sorted list of links. The reality of the situation is that this site is really a blog, and it's topics are: training, racing, triathlon, swimming, cycling, running, bikes, computers, Linux, writing, reading, blogging, climbing, playing, working, watching, eating, Montreal, mile-end, and myself... The Christmas BuySubmitted by adie on Thu, 2007-12-06 10:02.
Since it's time to make the sacrificial purchases required by Christmas, it's also tome to lessen the pain by supporting local artisans:
Salon des métiers d’art du Québecruns from from the 7th to the 22nd... it's huge, and you should be able to find something for just about everyone. souk @ sat runs from the 14th to the 16th... it's young and hip and fun just to go. Up and RunningSubmitted by adie on Mon, 2007-08-20 11:11.
It's late in the season, but I'm finally back into my training routine... and while I have enjoyed my summer of slack, it's time to salvage a little of the season and gear up for the Toronto Marathon.
I'd forgotten how pleasant it is to be tired and sore all the time... ( categories: training )
State of Moncton WifiSubmitted by matthew on Wed, 2007-08-01 13:29.
Once again I'm off on my biannual pilgrimage to Moncton, and in preparation I thought I'd check on the state of free monkeytown wifi. Normally this proves fruitless, but now, as of June 22, in certain areas of downtown, I will find myself embraced by the cozy inviting arms of free connectivity...

Sound Alliance Benefit TonightSubmitted by adie on Fri, 2007-05-18 09:21.
I'll be at this benefit from shortly after 6:00pm until the end if anyone wants to join me. The project is very cool, and I'll post a YouTube video of it shortly.
Hi Folks, We're throwing a fundraiser/going away party for the Sound Alliance Project on Friday May 18th @ Blizzarts! The Sound Alliance is a 'mobile recording studio' that travels to remote regions of the world assisting artists in the recording and distribution of their music and ensures that artists retain all copyrights to their work. The team has been working really hard for the past two years to put this together, and they're leaving for Belize, Mali and the Soloman Islands in a few weeks. We'd love for you to come out and have some drinks with us to show your support and check out what they're doing. Hope to see you there! Kavita www.thesoundalliance.org ( categories: montreal )
Ad Truck BegoneSubmitted by adie on Wed, 2007-04-25 12:53.
Yet another online petition... this one about getting rid of those horrible
advertising trucks:
http://www.petitiononline.com/badtruck/ I really do wish those things (the trucks not the petitions) would go away. ( categories: montreal )
